In the event of a life-threatening emergency, patients should call 9-1-1 or visit the nearest emergency department immediately.

At UH TriPoint Emergency Department, we offer the latest life-saving technology along with features designed to provide safety, privacy and comfort for our patients and their loved ones. Features include:

  • 22 private treatment rooms
  • Separate entrances for walk-in patients and ambulances
  • Staff communication devices to reduce noise
  • A visitation wing where patients can visit with their loved ones

If you’re sick or injured, the best place to go for care depends on your symptoms and how soon you need treatment. Many non-life-threatening conditions can be treated at an urgent care, doctor’s office or virtually. Always call 9-1-1 in a life-threatening emergency. First responders can start treatment in your home or on the way to the emergency department.

Services Offered at UH TriPoint Emergency Department

Our highly trained emergency room physicians and nurses have the ability to quickly diagnose and treat the full spectrum of emergency medical situations, including:

Chest Pain and Heart Attack Care

Recognizing and reacting to the early symptoms of a heart attack – such as chest pain – and reducing the time it takes to receive treatment improves your chances of survival and recovery. Our specially-trained teams of emergency department doctors, nurses and cardiologists know the early signs of a heart attack and are ready to intervene quickly.

Patients arriving at the UH TriPoint ED with signs of a heart attack are stabilized and then transferred to UH Lake West Medical Center for catheterization or open-heart surgery. The Chest Pain Center at UH Lake West Medical Center Emergency Department is accredited by ACC Accreditation Services, assuring you nationally recognized expertise in early heart attack care and treatment.

If we determine your chest pain is caused by something other than a heart attack, such as gastrointestinal conditions or a lung problem, we’ll help connect you to care for that concern.

Stroke Care

The UH TriPoint emergency department is designated by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. This means our emergency medicine specialists have the training and technology to manage acute stroke patients including rapid assessment, imaging and the ability to administer intravenous medications (tPA) to dissolve blood clots and restore blood flow to brain regions affected by a stroke.

Partnering with First Responders

We coordinate with local EMS to help heart attack patients receive treatment before they even get to the ED. Our heart emergency response time exceeds the American Heart Association’s high standard of opening a blocked artery in fewer than 90 minutes, starting when the patient first arrives in the ED.

UH AirMed Helicopter Services

UH AirMed, the medical helicopter program of University Hospitals, has a day base at UH TriPoint Medical Center. This expansion of services guarantees that residents of Lake County and the surrounding communities have access to potentially lifesaving air medical services.
